DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS (AIDED)

BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of the Physics was established in the year 1969 to teach Ancillary Physics for B.Sc., Mathematics students in the aided stream. The first batch of Graduate Physics students successfully came out during the year 1981-82. As a milestone in the progress of the department, the M.Sc Physics course was started in the academic year 2008- 2009 as a self finance course. The department is upgraded as a center for conducting M.Phil  and   Ph.D Research programs during the year 2012..

To suit industry requirements theory and practical papers on integrated electronics and microprocessor are introduced in the UG curriculum.

Research Based Project

The PG and M.Phil students are motivated to do research while doing projects/ dissertation inhouse and in organizations like CLRI ,

IGCAR and University of Madras. The research based projects are introduced in the UG curriculum from the academic year 2015-2016 onwards.

Internship Program

The institute – industry collaboration is achieved through internship program to various

companies like Floranix, Shiram Technologies, Voltech manufacturing company
