Department of Economics

 

The Department of Economics as the great distinction of being the first department in providing the first UG course in our college in June 1969. True to its vision of accomplishing value based and skill based quality education, the department has always focused on empowering the students through progressive learning and enhancing their employability skills for a bright future ahead.

 

To succeed in this endeavour the department has taken utmost care in framing the curriculum and ideal syllabus justifying suitable exposure to the student fraternity in having their employability skills.

 

Special papers such as Basic Financial Accounting, Principles of Management, Statistics for Economists, Mathematics for Economists and Human Resource Management form a part of the curriculum. Further Computer Applications has been chosen as an elective paper.

ECONOMICS ASSOCIATION 2016-2017

CRUX ECO FUN

 

          The Economics Association “CRUX ECO FUN” was inaugurated by Mrs. Mercy  Correspondent  and Principal of Sancta Maria School  on 18/10/2016 in the presence of the Head of the Department of Economics Dr. Mrs. Suganthi and the Economics Association Vice President Dr. Mrs. C. Khamer Sultana of the Department of Economics.

     The Chief Guest who addressed the students on this occasion dwelt on the need to focus  about  “ Women Empowerment” and distributed the prizes to the winners of the various competitions.

     She stressed the importance of self introspection on the part of every student in order to obtain clarity in their future plans.

     The speech was very much inspiring and informative and was beneficial to the students on the whole.

     The vote of thanks was proposed by Economics Association Secretary Kavitha. The Economics Association activities for the academic year 2016-2017 drew to a close on a positive note.
