Department of Social Work
Department Profile
The Department of Social Work was established in the year 2003 and
it offers Masters Degree in Social Work (M.S.W) with specializations
in Human Resources Management and Medical & Psychiatry.Besides
theory learning, MSW students also undergo two days of field work training in a
week, which reflects the need to learn the practical aspects of their
respective field of study. The Department of Social Work, under its multitude
of feathers organizes an array of activities that contribute towards enhancing
social sensitivity. "Students Participatory Empowerment Forum"
(SPEF), is an active Student's body, under which all the departmental
activities are carried out with great passion, zeal and social responsibility.
Specializations
1. Human Resources Management
This specialization equips MSW graduates to work as HR Executives/Welfare
Officers/HR Managers in public/private/service sectors. Students will be placed
for training in industrial organizations to gain practical knowledge in the
field.
2. Medical & Psychiatry
This specialization equips the MSW graduates to work as counselors/social
workers in hospitals/psychiatry settings. Students will be placed for training
in various settings for an all-round exposure in the field.

Departments Outreach Programmes For
the Year 2015-16:
Rural Camp
Rural Camp on the theme VIZHUNDHALUM EZHUNDHIDUVOM was organized
in Pozhichalur,Kanchipuram District
from 30.09.2015 to 05.10.2015. The main aim of the camp was to make people aware about various social
issues prevailing in their locality and also to spread awareness about how to
solve or contain such social issues and in turn enable the MSW students to gain
essential skills to be a professional social worker.
Our rally against Alcoholism along with the community youth and
children.
Free Medical and Eye camp for Pozhichalur people in
coordination with Balaji hospital and SankaraNethralaya
Association Activities Carried Out Under SPEF
· Road Safety Awareness
Campaign on 11th January 2016 at GST road, Chromepet and also within the college premises
· Post flood relief kit
distribution on 14th January 2016 for the flood victims
(non-teaching staff) of our college in association with I rock Foundation.
· Emphasized the importance of girl child on 22nd January 2016
through awareness programmes at Royal Matriculation
School, Hastinapuram in commemoration with
National Girl Child Day
