Department Of Statistics
Department of Statistics established in the year 1984 offers
undergraduate degree course in statistics and post graduate degree course in
Biostatistics in 2007. The Department was upgraded as research department by
the University of Madras from 2012. M.Phil Statistics started in
the year 2013 under Self finance Stream. The department aims at motivating and enhancing research
potential of the research scholars and faculty members by using excellent
knowledge base of eminent subject experts of the reputed institutes through
orientation programmes, Seminars and conferences regularly. It also provides
hands on practical experience in Data Analysis using sophisticated statistical
software R Programming, SPSS, SPSS AMOS and SYSTAT.

M.Sc. Biostatistics (Self Finance)
Biostatistics deals with the application of statistical techniques to health
related fields including biological sciences, medicine and public health. The
multi-disciplinary nature of Biostatistics demands intertwining knowledge of
statistical theory and an understanding of the areas of its application.

Computing Skills is offered as a self-learning
component wherein students take Spoken Tutorial classes, offered by IIT Bombay
available in college Digital Library - D Space.
STAT QUEST, the intercollegiate
festival was inaugurated by our Principal Dr.
V.VARALASHMI on 29/2/2016. She
emphasized the need for students to learn the application of Statistics and to
exercise caution while interpreting the results. Various intercollegiate
activities like QUIZ, DUMB CHARADES, CONNEXIONS and CASE REPORT were conducted.
