BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

                   The department was started in the year 2007 under the self-finance stream with 16 students. The department offers 3 years Undergraduate programme of Bsc Visual Communication. Art and Design are the main focus of the syllabi. Besides designing, we also give importance to Photography, TV production, Paintings and Animation. Animation includes 2D and 3D using software like 3d Studio Max, Flash. We have advanced infrastructure with well-equipped labs having equipment worth of  Rs 50,65,000 (approximately). Now we have total 114 students in the department.

Association Activities

             The department has conducted the association activities in the name of ‘Vaish-Ani-Fest’ and  ‘VisualKarishma’till 2010. In 2010, the department has renamed the association as ‘Mediji Fiesta’- media festival and ‘Ciencia Visuelle’-the science of visuals. Still, the department conducts the association with the same name. Mediji Fiesta is usually the seminar or symposium by the eminent media persons. Ciencia Visuelleis the workshop or exhibition or film screening for the other colleges or other department students.

Collaboration

Ø  In association with NGO “Namma ooru Foundation”, the department has participated in community service for Audio Digitilization. Our students convert the lessons of State Board from Std 1to Std 10 into slides and give voice over for the slides. This project is to help the first generation students to study the lessons in depth and clarity.

Ø   In association with “Naladhaana, a NGO, our final year students participated in a street play in community to give awareness on hygiene.

Ø   In association with “Nalandhana Thendral FM”, our final year students gave voice over for the PSA programme about family planning and Hand wash awareness which won the 1st prize from UNICEF.
